It is just shameful that prominent American liberals continue to support the corrupt Democratic Party.
People like Eric Alterman, Medea Benjamin, David Corn, Ariana Huffington, Robert Kuttner, Victor Navasky, Harold Meyerson, Morton Mintz, Wes Boyd, John Nichols, Katha Pollitt, Jesse Jackson, Matthew Rothschild, Bernie Sanders, Micah Sifry, Robert McChesney, James Fallows, Markos Moulitsas and Katrina vanden Heuvel (pictured here).
These Americans - like the majority of Americans - support the Nader/Gonzalez agenda.
They agree with us on the need for a single-payer, Canadian-style, private delivery, public health insurance system.
They agree with us on cutting the bloated, wasteful military budget, cutting off the corporate welfare kings - and using the savings to rebuild the nation’s infrastructure.
They agree with us on cracking down on corporate crime.
They agree with us on reversing U.S. policy in the Middle East and ending the military and corporate occupation in Iraq.
On the major issues of our time - they agree with Nader/Gonzalez.
Yet they continue to side with the corrupt Democratic Party.
This is shameful and cowardly political behavior.
And until it is reversed, the Democratic Party will have them by the nose and will continue to pull them through a relentless slide into the abyss.
They will be taken for granted - as they have been every four years in the past, and will be every four years in the future.
These prominent American liberals apparently have learned nothing from the political leverage generated by the small third parties in the 19th century who pioneered the social justice movements that delivered the goods that we take for granted today.
Luckily for the country, there is an emerging new generation of Americans who have no illusions about the corrupt Democratic Party - and are working today - on the ground, all around this country - to put Nader/Gonzalez on the ballot.
And give all Americans a choice for a government free from corrupt corporate influence.
Last week, our volunteers handed in more than twice the required number of signatures to put Nader/Gonzalez on the ballot in New Mexico.
Also last week, our volunteers handed in more than three times the required number of signatures to put Nader/Gonzalez on the ballot in Hawaii.
They are on the ground now in Arizona collecting the 40,000 signatures we need to get Nader/Gonzalez on the ballot there.
Now, we are working to raise money to put Nader/Gonzalez on the ballot in Kansas.
Late last week, more than 140 of you gave more than $8,000.
As a result, we are more than halfway to our goal of $15,000 to put Nader/Gonzalez on the ballot in Kansas.
Thank you all.
Now, we need just 70 more of you to give $100 each - and we will reach our goal and give the green light to our volunteers to get started in Kansas.
Remember, there are only two national polls that include Nader/Gonzalez.
Both are Zogby polls and they show:
McCain 45 percent
Clinton 39 percent
Nader 6 percent
McCain 44 percent
Obama 39 percent
Nader 5 percent
Thank you again for your generous and ongoing support.
Help push us over the top to put Nader/Gonzalez on the ballot in Kansas.
The Nader Team
